Girl Scout Camp Out FAQs

1) What should I bring?

You will need to bring a tent, sleeping bags, pillows, flashlight/battery-powdered lantern and toiletries (tooth brush/tooth paste).  Additionally, you may want to bring: s'more supplies for the marshmallow roast, snacks, cooler with beverages (no alcohol), insect repellant, towel, tarp, and camping chairs/blanket.  Please note that glass containers, balloons and open flames (other than campfire) are not allowed at Owl's Hill. Also, smoking is not permitted anywhere on the grounds. We are a carry-in/carry-out facility; be sure to bring a trash bag.

2) What time should I arrive?

Check-in and set-up for the camp begins at 5 pm. You are welcome to bring a picnic dinner. Activities begin promptly at 6 p.m.

3) Can I arrive prior to check-in?

Please arrive no earlier than 5 p.m.

4) What kind of food is provided?

There will be an evening marshmallow roast.  We will provide participants with 3 marshmallows and a stick for roasting.  You're encouraged to bring your favorite s'more fixings (chocolate, graham crackers, etc.).  A light breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. 

5) Can I bring extra food?

Yes, you may bring a picnic dinner, snacks, a cooler for additional drinks (no alcohol) and s'more fixings. We are a carry-in/carry-out facility so please be sure to bring a bag for your trash.  

6) What if it rains?

The program is rain or shine unless severe weather is in the area. 

7) What if I need to leave the camp out before it is over?

For camper safety, we lock the gate Saturday evening and will not open it until 6 a.m. Sunday morning. Exit from Owl's Hill will only be allowed in the event of an emergency. If you find, due to an emergency, that you need to leave the camp out during the night, please see a staff member in the staff designated area. 

8) Can I bring siblings?

Please make other child care arrangements for scout siblings. This camp out is for scouts only.  

9) What time is check-out?

Check-out is 8:30 am

10) Are Dads welcome?

We follow Girl Scout rules and policies.  Dads may participate however they will need to bring their own tents and will be asked to camp in a separate designated area. 

11) What is your refunds and cancellation policy?

REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • REFUND POLICY: There are no refunds on programs. If you cannot attend, however, you may receive credit for your purchase amount toward a different program within 90 days.
  • CANCELLATION: Classes are rain or shine. We will, however, cancel class if Williamson County is under a severe weather warning issued by the National Weather Service. Participants will be notified of cancellations by email. If a class is cancelled, you will receive a credit toward a future class.
