THE HACKING BOX: WHAT IS IT? HOW DOES IT WORK?

The HACKING BOX is a half-way house for orphaned Birds of Prey. When the birds arrive here, they have been in the care of a wildlife rehabilitator who has raised and cared for them. When the birds leave the hacking box, they are prepared to live freely in the wild. During the time they are in the hacking box, the birds must learn four very important lessons.

1. Food does not come from people.
2. Food does not arrive at a set time.
3. The amount of food is not predictable.
4. Food must be captured and killed before eating.

From the security of the box, the bird adjusts to the sights. sounds and feel of the new habitat which may become their home. Hopefully they will see prey and perhaps a wild bird capturing prey!
