Chris began performing at the age of 11 and at 18, arrived in Nashville and  begged the doorman at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge for a chance to sing one song with the house band.  After he'd finished "Folsom Prison Blues," the bar's owners offered him a job.  He became the talk of the Nashville music scene, playing four shows a day for the next year.

He is currently at work on his debut album, for which he wrote all but one of the songs. Now 23, Chris is one of Music City's most promising and exciting young talents.

Music in the Meadow: Elizabeth Eckert

Elizabeth started her musical life early on, lucky enough to have musicians as parents. Studying piano since age three, her classical career culminated in a piano performance degree from the Indiana University School of Music and a debut recital in Carnegie Hall.

Discovering song-writing in her early 20’s, this passion took Elizabeth in a new direction... namely, South! Currently residing in Nashville, TN, Elizabeth is on the piano faculty of the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, and she continues to write and perform original songs.

Charles Brindley Old Tree Drawing Workshop
Saturday, October 6, 2012; 9 am - 6 pm
Cost: $90/person; Adults Only Register

Acclaimed landscape artist Charles Brindley, who has captured the ageless beauty of some of Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary’s oldest trees, will offer a drawing workshop at Owl’s Hill that is open to artists of all levels.

Brindley has long been enthralled by trees and drawn to their strength and majesty. For more than 25 years he has produced hundreds of drawings and paintings of thick hackberries, massive oaks, ancient sycamores and mysterious beeches.

Brindley has a long history of achieving wonderful results with adults who choose to develop their artistic ability. Embracing all levels, from beginner to advanced, The Old Tree Drawing Workshop will offer participants a diversity of instructional options. For beginning artists, technique and fundamentals will be stressed, while a more open dialogue will be explored to help experienced artists refine ideas and their creative and technical skills. Total cost of the workshop is $90. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity. Space is limited, so please call Owl’s Hill at (615) 370-4672.
