Field Ecology

Species Monitoring Programs

Assist with these important wildlife census events.

  • Data is sent to national databases to help track migration, diversity and other wildlife population concerns. 
  • All fees go the national organizations compiling the count data.
  • No experience necessary; trained specialists lead each group.
  • Appropriate for adults and older, interested children.

Butterfly Counts

  • Owl's Hill/Nashville Fourth of July NABA** Count, July 6, 2013; 10 am - 4 pm;  $3, goes to NABA**  Register now
  • Nashville South Labor Day NABA** Count, September 9, 2013; 10 am - 4 pm; :$3, goes to NABA** Register now
  • Nashville South Memorial Day NABA** Count, May, 2013; Time and Date TBA
 

Helpful Information

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes.
  • Dress for the weather.
  • Use insect repellent from April 1 to October 1.
  • Binoculars and field guides are helpful but not necessary.
  • Owl's Hill has a limited number of binoculars for visitors' use during the programs.
