Spring Break Programs

Enjoy a local Spring Break vacation with activities at Owl's Hill, April 2-6. 
All programs are designed for families although some have suggestions for the appropriate age.
All children should be accompanied by an adult.
Reservations suggested

 

MONDAY
Ridgeline Picnic
11 am - 1 pm

Stash your lunch in your day pack and join us for a hike to the top of the South Ridge:

  • Follow the trail from the stream-side meadow to the ridge top
  • Enjoy lunch at the top of the ridge
  • Look for early blooming wildflowers, spring butterflies and courting birds
  • Cameras and binoculars welcome; binoculars may be borrowed at the Visitor Center
  • Hike begins promptly at 11
  • Beginning of hike is uphill; children under 5 may want parents to carry them
  • $10/family in advance; $15 at the gate
  • Two and under free
  • Reservations suggested

TUESDAY
Play and Picnic
11 am - 1 pm

Visit the Owl's Hill orchard picnic area for a relaxing lunch:

  • Enjoy imaginative, creative play in Fort Cedar
  • Eat lunch in the shade of pecan trees
  • All Ages
  • $7/person in advance; $10 at the gate
  • Two years old and under free
  • Reservations suggested

WEDNESDAY
Compass Course
1 - 4 pm

Learn to use a compass:

  • Review (or learn) the basic parts of a compass
  • Practice using a compass on the Owl's Hill compass course
  • Test your skills on the beginner and/or advanced Owl's Hill Orienteering course
  • Bring your own compass or borrow one at the Visitor Center (one/family)
  • Requires an understanding of circle geometry
  • $15/family in advance, $25/family at the gate through March15.
  • $20/family in advance after March 15
  • Reservations suggested

THURSDAY
Play and Picnic
11 am - 1 pm

Where is Peter?
10 - 11:30 am

Help us search the meadow and orchard for bunnies, large and small:

  • Wear your own creation of an outdoor "Easter Bonnet"
  • Find bunnies of all sorts
  • Enjoy a story about a very famous rabbit
  • Nibble on some tasty rabbit snacks
  • All ages
  • $7/person in advance; $10 at the gate.
  • Two years old and under free
