Stash your lunch in your day pack and join us for a hike to the top of the South Ridge:

Follow the trail from the stream-side meadow to the ridge top

Enjoy lunch at the top of the ridge

Look for early blooming wildflowers, spring butterflies and courting birds

Cameras and binoculars welcome; binoculars may be borrowed at the Visitor Center

Hike begins promptly at 11

Beginning of hike is uphill; children under 5 may want parents to carry them

Review (or learn) the basic parts of a compass

Practice using a compass on the Owl's Hill compass course

Test your skills on the beginner and/or advanced Owl's Hill Orienteering course

Bring your own compass or borrow one at the Visitor Center (one/family)

Requires an understanding of circle geometry
