Age 8-11

Designed for children entering third through sixth grade.
NatureRanger Campers must be 8 when camp begins AND entering third grade in the fall of 2013. Proof of age required.
Space in camps is assigned on a first come, first served basis by date of payment.
If you are interested in a camp that is full, you may e-mail us or call 615-370-4672 to be put on a waiting list. There is no fee for the waiting list.

NATURE RANGER CAMP

Hands-On experience for the Young Naturalist

  • Designed for the serious nature lover age eight through eleven (grades three through six.)  
  • Each day has a different focus, including trees, insects, owls, reptiles, amphibians, pond and creek.
  • Campers keep nature portfolios as they participate in hands-on study of the inhabitants of the Sanctuary.
  • Each day allows time to build play in Fort Cedar and the Fairy Village
  • A mid-morning snack and drink are provided each day.
  • Campers bring lunch to enjoy in the Orchard Picnic area Monday through Thursday
  • Camp begins at 4 pm on Friday and includes a cookout dinner provided by Owl's Hill followed by a night adventure.  Pick-up time is 10 pm. 
  • Parents interested in sharing the cookout and adventures with their camper may register for Nature Ranger Parents' Night.
  • All campers receive a camp shirt
  • Cost: $250/week

  • Tuesday, July 9: 7:30 am - 1:30 pm
  • Wednesday, July 10: 9 am - 3 pm
  • Thursday, July 11: 9 am - 3 pm
  • Friday, July 12: 4 pm - 10 pm

NATURE RANGER PARENTS' NIGHT

Share an Evening Adventure with Your NatureRanger Camper

  • Parents or other adult relatives of NatureRanger campers may register to share the cookout and  night adventure with their camper.
  • The evening includes dinner, a nature program and a night hike.
  • A clear evening will end with a star party.
  • Limit of 2 adult reservations/camper.
  • Cost: $25/adult (must register by July 8 to attend)

 We do not have adequate facilities to accommodate siblings.  The Summer Nights at the Hill program offers a similar experience for members of the family, age 5 and older.  Check Family Programs for details.

NATURE ADVENTURE CAMP

Outdoor Summer Adventure and Exploration

  • A camp for children age 5 - 11. (Age 5 must be entering kindergarten fall of 2013)
  • A great camp for siblings to enjoy together.
  • Environmental education and nature studies in a natural setting.
  • Includes hiking, exploring, wading, fort building, fairy house construction and meeting live animals.
  • Camp sizes are kept small so that each child receives individual attention.
  • Each day is based on a different theme with activities centered on that theme.
  • A mid-morning snack and drink are provided each day.
  • Monday through Thursday campers bring lunch to enjoy in the Orchard Picnic area.
  • Friday camp includes a hotdog cookout provided by Owl's Hill.
  • Camp begins promptly at 9 am and ends at 3:00 pm.
  • All campers receive a camp shirt
  • Cost: $250/week
