The Great Horned Owl

The Great Horned Owl is the strongest and most powerful owl in Tennessee. It nests during the winter in open wooded areas and uses old hawk or squirrel nests. These owls eat small mammals, rodents, birds, snakes, and other owls. The Great Horned Owl loves to eat skunks. YUCK! The call of this owl is 3 short hoots and 2 long hoots.

Did you know...
Owl Pellets are balls of undigested fur, bones and teeth coughed up by the Owl after eating.
