Music in the Meadow:  Danny Flowers and Gordon Kennedy
July 17, 2010

Danny Flowers and guitar
The son of a Henderson, North Carolina mortician, Danny Flowers guitar brought him to Nashville, where he joined Don Williams band in 1974.  In '78, he wrote "Tulsa Time," recorded by Williams and later, Eric Clapton.  He hit  #1 status with William's rendition of "Back in My Younger Days," and has gone on to write countless songs for and with some of Nashville's finest, including Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson.   His skills are not limited to writing; he is also a talented musician, not only on the guitar, but also on the harmonica and dobro.  Such instrumental diversity  has earned him a place on tour with artists Vince Gill, Nanci Griffith, Dobie Gray, Russell Smith and Marshall Chapman.

Flowers released his third album, Tools for the Soul, in 2007 to high praise.   The CD includes the harmonies of EmmyLou Harris and the flutes of Bill Miller.  Harris comments, "I first listened to this remarkable album on a Sunday morning, and it took me to church and beyond.  Danny's songs bear witness to his life with humor and humility and a wisdom born of experience.  They are a testament of  hope, full of joy, from a faith earned the hard way, every day."  Don't miss this opportunity to experience Flowers' music for yourself.

"I consider Danny a good friend and a great musician in the truest, old-school rock style.  there is just not enough of this kind of stuff around anymore."
--Eric Clapton

As the son of Nashville guitarist and producer, Jerry Glenn Kennedy, Gordon Kennedy grew up surrounded by music.  Today, he is, himself, a singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer, collaborating with artists including Eric Clapton, Garth Brooks, Bonnie Raitt, Jewel, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and many others.  Most recently, he worked with Eric Frampton to write, produce and record Frampton's Grammy winning album, Fingerprints.
